mechanics are the rules and things the designer implements - gameplay is the push/pull dynamic between game rules and player action - "the decisions, interactions, and activities that players are doing in the game" - player experience is how the player feels - the subjective experience. - what does the player experience? - how does the player feel? - things like art and music of the game also contribute to player experience - this is different from the [[Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetic model]] coined by LeBlanc, et al.
