reviews are for recommending or not recommending media to others
this shouldn't be surprising.
Where bad reviews are ones that summarize what's in the the thing like a movie trailer or the back of a book/videogame box. Good reviews recount the experience of consuming the thing and summarizing just the bits of the synopsis that's relevant.
Make comparisons to other things, talk about your favorite bits. whatever.
They don't go in-depth because why should they? it doesn't matter if the reader understands how things are made. how the design of saving in alien isolation is part of their theme of horror, it's just a "did you like this game?" and "should I play it?".
Which, well, only matters if you know the critic's tastes align with yours.
